Her soul for its sole: You remember the story about Lauren Kwedar, the part-time Paige Hendricks Public Relations pro and full-time soccer assassin that took out son NoBGood in a City of Fort Worth co-ed soccer game? Their rematch on the pitch kick starts next week and NoBGood has booted up his physique by working out with Chris Butler at the Westside YMCA. Afraid of cheap-shot retaliation, Lauren offered the ref a $50 dinner for two at client Eddie V’s Prime Seafood if he would red card son NoBGood. Refs can’t be bribed, so honest Abe turned it over to Newz-E-Letter and you have a chance to feast on the finest.

Shrilling for grilling: Veronica Kime’s handout brochure says “Savor the Sizzle” and Mr. B was drooling as he read the lunch, dinner and dessert opportunities from Steak-Out’s fire-grilled deliveries. And then Veronica started baiting us with her talk of grilled shrimp, grilled onions, Vidalia onion steak sauces, death by chocolate cake and we gave in. Hustled to the phone and ordered. You’re in for a Berry Street treat because this $50 gift card will buy you two primo ribeyes for dinner or feed five for lunch.

During VisionFW's event held in July at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Ryan Cormier, Glint Advertising, wanted to draw attention to this particular display from the Leonardo Da Vinci: Man, Inventor, Genius exhibit currently on view until Sept. 6, 2010. See more photos from the event here.

Box up my goodies: Tomorrow night, Marcelle LeBlanc at The Velvet Box is hosting her free summer bash and like most parties, there will be music … and food and drinks... and gifts. Invitation does not specify the dress code, but the best-dressed list will not be in business casual. If you want to go and you want to dress for success for the occasion, Marcelle has provided us with a $50 gift card.

Sight for sore eyes: Remember that Terrible Two Mr. B was toddler-sitting a few weeks back? The one with the wet Depends. There was another interesting “situation.” Twice, TT was dancin’ to Blues Clues and banged into a wall. Mr. B took him to see Eric & Carlos at Special Eyes Optical and the kid was a Mr. Magoo Jr. … 20-600. Now he’s wearing Jaden Smith designer specs and Blues Clues boogie-ing. Eric and Carlos have a pair for your junior Magoo just in time for whiteboard watching in the ISD.

Gas up, too: Ellen Prater of Logix recently got a referral lead from Cally Munson at MMG. “Guy wanted to meet at a gas station,” Ellen told Cally, who responded, “That’s the way I roll.”

Meridian on the money: Denisa Russell and Meridian Bank did an outstanding job at their Chamber Business After Hours earlier this month. Plenty of space, nice crowd, door prizes. Best of all, other than Denisa of course, was the food from All in Good Taste Fine Catering. First time Mr. B has had corned beef at a Chamber event, and the white & dark chocolate brownie dessert was to die for.

Year-round heat: Sherry over at Harvest Landscape was showing Mr. B these incredible, really romantic “fire and water bowls” that can be installed to your pool from $2,950 to $4,900. At $.375 an hour, Mr. B’s fire would be out before he could afford one, but maybe you sold your BP stock at $70 a share.

Name game: Attorney Walter Fortney of Law, Snakard & Gambill, has a daughter-in-law named Courtney Fortney.

Mean & clean machine: We need to clean the air folks! And that’s part of what The North Texas Clean Air Coalition strives for. The Working for Clean Air Awards recognize North Texas' outstanding workplaces for clean air initiatives. You have until Sept. 3 to enter your company. www.workingforcleanair.org.

No bull here 1: Glint Advertising sales exec Ryan Cormier has a background in pitching … and not just accounts. He once threw a bullpen session in Round Rock under the watchful eyes of Texas Rangers great Nolan Ryan.

No bull here 2: Just two-plus weeks until TCU opens at Cowboys Stadium against Oregon State and coach Gary Patterson on the pressure of repeating a 12-0 season: “Toby Keith wrote I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. I hope I can just live up to that.”

Sales salute: In a touching gesture, Georgette Lopez-Aguado, a top-100 salesperson nationally for Creative Memories, said Chamber membership momma Carole Ann Fleming was instrumental in her sales success. “Direct sales, unique leads…Carole got me out of my comfort zone.”

Salute to bosses: Nathan (who was sucking up and wanted to remain semi-anonymous) on his bosses Charley and Raegan Bell at Bell Brothers Moving –“They specialize in being polite and being ridiculous.” In this context, we think ridiculous means going out of their way to satisfy.

Tagline 1: Hire the Best and Ignore the Rest from Norm Bobay at hireMax.

Tagline 2: Quit spinning your wheels and see Terri the Tire Girl. She’s with Car Concepts.

Pray for good health: Farmers Insurance agent Heath German says “there are as many insurance agents in Texas as Baptist churches.”

These heights are scary: Worker’s comp insurance goes up with the window washers. According to Fish Window Cleaning’s Don Harkrider, rates are EIGHT times higher once you start cleaning above the second floor of a building.

Fast & furious: Logan Johnson of PC Doctors does things fast. He graduated from (Jerry Falwell’s) Liberty University in 1.5 years; says he hated school and just wanted out. He moved his company to Texas just a week after losing a bet to his mother. She said she could double his business if he moved. Mothers always know best.

A safe haven: Jodi Beard, one of our GM gems, will be taking over as head sweetie at Embassy Suites. Ken Schell will do what he loves to do…training.

Waist not: Amy Goodson is the Registered Dietician for the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Executive Health Program. And the Sports Dietician for Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine. And the dietician for all of TCU’s athletics programs and the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars and about 10 pro golfers. Whew! With all that activity, who needs to diet. At a recent luncheon, Mr. B was enjoying a heavenly piece of delicious chocolate cake when he glanced over at Amy, who was giving him the evil eye. She allowed B to finish the cake, but only if he would mention that she’s available as a speaker to your group.
