Formal invite to enter: Mr. B was “reading” Fort Worth, Texas magazine, the Business Press and Star-Telegram party photos and looking at all those events he’s missing because he doesn’t have a 21st century tuxedo. His outdated one, with a Century 21-style yellow jacket that he never returned to Al’s from his high school prom, also doesn’t fit. So B danced over to the newly-located, incredibly hip Jos A. Bank at University Park Village, and former NBA-er/stylist to the stars Don Nelson coached him on some tailored tuxedos and Nike sneakers, and B is ready for the gala season. (Send your invitations to…) The Executive Tuxedo jacket and pants (a $550 value) was B’s favorite and because it was buy one, get one, we can provide one lux tux for a Newz-E-Letter reader.
Horse cents: You can wear your tux, but this great par-tee is outdoors so you can skip the tie. Shannon Worthington and friends are celebrating the Arts Council of Fort Worth & Tarrant County on April 24th with a lawn party -- Affair of the Arts -- at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. The theme is A Night at the Derby so if you don’t have tickets to Louisville, you can get all your Derby fun nextweekend. There’s food, a band and an open bar, but that lawn slopes a bit, so not too much horsin’ around. Win these tickets and you’ve hit the daily double.

Main Street Festival Collectors Club members Susan Medina, SKM Communication Strategies, LLC and Janet Hahn, Decker Jones McMackin McClane Hall & Bates PC, model their jewelry purchases while posing with Fort Worth Chamber’s Marilyn (Miserly Mistress) Gilbert, and Marie (Doc) Holliday, Flowers to Go in Sundance Square, members of the Downtown Fort Worth Inc. Festival and Events committee. It’s the Southwest’s largest, free four-day festival.

Star light, star bright: See the Stars at Night. The American Red Cross most recently has championed aid and assistance to Haiti, but much is done throughout the North Texas area, too. To help fund its efforts locally, the Chisholm Trail Chapter will present its annual gala April 23 at the Fort Worth Club. When Lacy and Alison and Emma say party and more, they mean more! Five local individuals and organizations will be celebrated as heroes for their lifesaving and community efforts. If you want to honor the heroes and eat, drink, dance (and more), we’ve got a pair of tickets.
Mea culpa: When Mr. B jokingly referred to spending his final days at Professional Caretakers, Barbara Burnett was quick, and nice, to explain that it is a licensed home health care agency, providing in-home services such as home care management, personal care and assistance, companion and adult sitter services, and on and on. It’s for seniors who don't need to live in a nursing home, an alternative to assisted living. How nice was Barbara about correcting B’s boo-boo? She sent along 40 free hours of care at the Adult Daytime Center at 6050 Harris Parkway, so four winners will get 10 hours each at Professional Caretakers.
Stop & go, go, go traffic: Eddie Gossage is probably sleeping on site, so he has no problem with traffic. Tony Stewart could weave and dodge traffic and get to Texas Motor Speedway in time for this weekend’s races, though he probably is being chauffeured. You probably are driving yourownself, and King Richard (Maxwell) at The T has a great solution. He is offering two sets of four round-trip tickets on the T's Victory Lane Express from Tarrant County College NW to Texas Motor Speedway, good either Saturday or Sunday.
Lead or get out of the way: Mr. B always has wanted to be a leader, so he called Harriet Harral, the Leadership Fort Worth leader, and after a brief interview, she suggested B was best suited to lead a parade of ants (aunts?). But Harriet said the national leadership conference was in Fort Worth next week and maybe attending might be helpful in getting to the head of the line. Do you want to lead? We have two tickets to the welcome address and VIP reception at the Omni Hotel starting at 4 p.m. April 22.
Pain in the … taxing: The (faux?) IRS is hounding Mr. B via email for “under-reported income.” If it knew how little boss Miserly Mistress pays, it would know “under-reported income” is impossible. If you’re getting that same junk mail, don’t respond.
Cash flow: Best advice Tonya Veasey of Open Channels Group ever received came from Oprah Winfrey, but probably not in person: “Always sign your own paycheck.”

Feeling more secure already: The National Guard is a new Chamber member.
No prize for guessing, but…Last night, during Lena Pope Home’s Fiesta de Oro celebration, there was lots of talk about “Bitsy.” Who’s Bitsy?

Did you know: Culligan is not your father’s water fountain. The new Culligan, according to Debbie Miller, is all about “water treatment.” She sells no residential, only to commercial entities.
Did you know II: Nearly 400 people pay $9.95 a month to read the Star-Telegram on Kindle? Or that the S-T website has 13 million page views a month by 2-to-3 million unique visitors. “Our goal is to grow audience,” Publisher Gary Wortel said.
Tastes great, less filling: Mr. B has tons of holiday macaroons left over, so he entered his famous macaroons stuffed with Mrs. Renfro's black bean salsa casserole in the Renfro recipe contest. Sort of a sweet & saucy taste. If you think you can top that, it's not too late for you to enter.

Just wondering: How come people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up about every two hours?
What I did this summer: Probably not so much as Global Lending Solutions branch manager Kimberly Burkhardt’s daughter, Gabrielle, 15. The Saginaw sophomore is going to Washington D.C. for the National Youth Leadership Forum, which specializes in legal and CSI discussions. Gabrielle doesn’t have time to be gabby; she plays on the praise team at church for the youth and Spanish services. She has performed with the color guard and winter guard the last two years at Saginaw and is in Pre-AP classes and is testing for college credit in World History this month.
Paid promotional: Mr. B, who is a very nice man, would like to run a listing of ALL your events and have endless email space. But, nooooooooo, say the editors, who already are worn out evaluating every single vowel and consonant in B's babblings. If your event is Chamber-sponsored or part of a giveaway, it's allowed in Newz-E-Letter. You gotta pay to play. Otherwise, check out the free options to publicize your event through the Chamber, such as the online community calendar and Facebook. Click here to find out how.
Kudos: Those Chamber-sponsored ROTC middle school peeps at J.P. Elder that were highlighted here a few weeks back finished with a first and three seconds to stand second nationally. WooHoo!

Rave reviews: The best tour deal in D/FW might be Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Even at $15, haven’t heard one naysayer. Most are just awed.
Leader in news: The Associated Press may be known for credible text content, but its world video news and photos are where it makes 65 percent of its revenues. AP honcho Tom Curley spoke at a recent TCU Neeley Executive Speaker Series breakfast and said its Internet revenue business right now is 98 percent licensing and two percent subscriptions and advertising. He suggested there was significant upside for advertising and mobile delivery of content.
Tastefully done: A renowned local chef needed to produce 80 pounds of chili for a supermarket special event, so he sent his recipe and his sous chef to All in Good Taste Catering, which produced the chili.
Healthy growth: TCU grad and TECH Fort Worth client Justin Avery, founder/CEO of Anderson-Trail premium moist granola when he was 16, already sells in Central Market and Whole Foods. He’s now going into local Costco stores.

I wanna go (whine)! The Chamber is taking a contingent to Washington D.C. next Tuesday through Thursday and Mr. B wants to go. He even offered to stay with younger brother, Little B, a huge lobbyist who earns $37,000 a minute and is on a first-name basis with the Obama's dog. But, noooooooooo. Boss Miserly Mistress says the "contingent" consists of (cliche coming) movers & shakers. "Social media maven Lauren (Lana) Turner will tweet and post from the various meetings," Miserly said, "and you and anybody else can follow her on Twitter and our Facebook Fan Page."
